Truth or Dare

Truth or dare
You and me
Come and stare
Can you see?
I don't feel the pain
I don't fear the shame
I will wear that chain
I will play your wicked game.
I' m not scared
And I won't plea
Come prepared
Cause I won't flee.
I don't care
I am free
On this chair
I don't care what you do to me.
You will wipe your hands
on that filthy piece of cloth
After all your commands
I will drink your bitter broth.
Truth or dare
Word or deed
Will you swear
While I bleed?
I don't care
You don't see
Truth or dare
You or me.

Early, one christmas morning
While the animals were still asleep
The hens in their house
The cat and the mouse
The fish very deep
And the owl scorning it all
I stepped out into the backyard
The warmth of sleep
still clinging at my cloke
Wide awake, rushing on
As if afraid of the calm
This day will force on us all
Rise if you can
Sleep on if you have to
Turn your face to the wall
And your back on us all
Rise if you can
Ride on if you want to
Turn this world upside down
Though you know it will always be round
Look at the long sleep
That we all will sleep
Look at the day that keeps flashing red
Look at the green grass
Look at the snowless sky
And dream on
Rise if you can
Sleep on if you need to
Turn your face to the wall
And your back on us all
Rise if you can
Ride on if you need to
Turn this world upside down
Though you know it will always be round
There is no magic
There is no crown
A medic's gift
to prophesy this birth
The echo of an unborn baby's beating heart
Stronger then the rhythms of the earth
Rise if you can
Sleep on if you want to
Turn your face to the wall
And your back on us all
Rise if you can
Ride on if you have to
Turn this world upside down
Though you know it will always be round

My Last Summer
04:32
|
|||
It’s hard to see a falling star in daylight.
The brightness of the sun will hide her feeble light.
Summer is much hotter than my fever,
It melts away the street I'm walking down.
Tries to stop me with its tricks
The lightest clothes make me look up.
Limbs of lead weigh me down
Happy faces all around.
Lollypops and ice cream kids
The carrousel of love.
Front porch swings and backyard chicks
The cooing of a dove.
This is my last summer.
Cruel masks that mock my frown,
Every day’s the same,
Razors of her golden crown,
Try to cut me down
This is my last summer.
This is my last foe, My last fear
My last walk, my last cry,
My last carress, my last confession.
I can see the river ’neath my feet.
I can see the water dark and deep
That shows the falling star.

Everything Is Real
05:08
|
|||
I put on a new bandage, new dirt in an old wound.
I don't need steroids, my arm has fought enough,
I don't need Botox to swell my bleeding mouth,
I don't need lipo to show my broken bones.
The bright sunrise brings no smell of coffee
The blazing afternoon no shelter of shades,
the bitter cold of night no woolen blanket.
I've got dirt under my toenails and a ringing in my ear,
A plastic bag's my only souvenir
I've got a rusty kitchen knife to make things clear
a dirty look to hide my greatest fear.
Everything is real
Everything I feel
Every single deal
Every stolen meal.
Everyone's my enemy. Is anyone my friend?
This is a new beginning, or is this the end?
I am a beggar, begging for my life.
I am a fighter, fighting to survive.
You watch the riots I am in
Watch them on your lcd, led or plasma screen.
Digital reality
Virtual mortality
I’ve got dirt under my toenails and a roaring in my ear
A bodybag's my latest souvenir
Blood runs down my legs to make things clear
My lethal cough is your greatest fear
I can see you
I can see me
And everything we're going through
Seems absolutely fabulous
Running from you
Running from me
And everything will be okay
No longer on the run
From having fun
Out in the sun
At the point of a gun.

Robin
05:26
|
|||
I can't stop thinking like I do
I can't see why it is not true
For as the sun is surely dying
And all the stars are surely lying
I can't stop drinking like I do
I can't resist, that much is true
And as an actor's always lying
And as this bird is surely dying
I'm Robin
I'm robbin'
I'm robbin' myself of me
I'm Robin
I can't stop feeling like I do
Nothing familiar, nothing new
And you can see it in my eyes
So this should come as no surprise
I'm robbin' myself of me
I'm Robin
I can't stop doing what I do
I can't stop following this through.

Razors and Mirrors
01:37
|
|||
Some were young and some were old
Some were dressed against the cold
Sailing for the promised land
Some were saved, but most were damned.
Sailing swift and sailing proud
To her doom whithout a shroud.
From the water's mirror came
The razor's edge her life to claim.
Slicing through her skin of steel
Was her trembling fake or real?
A blurred reflection, a cut in the chin
A missed note from the violin.
Would you board that ship again,
Knowing how, and where, and when,
Chosing to write history,
Or to fade from memory?

Backyard Giants Maaseik, Belgium
... more
